May all such Buddha Bhagavats throughout all worlds who are ever abiding in the world compassionately look upon me, remember me, and bear witness to me. Whatever multitude of sins I have committed in my past lives from beginningless saṃsāra up to the present—whether committed myself, having caused others to commit them, or rejoiced at seeing them committed; whether against stūpas or the Saṅgha, whether taking the property of the Saṅgha of the four directions, whether taking it myself, having caused others to take it, or rejoiced at seeing it taken; or committing the grave sins of the five rebellious acts of the Avīci [hell], whether committed myself, having caused others to commit them, or rejoiced at seeing them committed; or the ten unwholesome paths of action, committed myself, causing others to commit them, or rejoiced at seeing them committed. The sins and obstacles that were committed—whether concealed or not concealed—warranting falling into the hells, hungry ghosts, animals, the various evil destinies, borderlands, base births, and mlecchas: all such sins and obstacles in places such as these, I now confess and repent.
