1.67

僧問：「欲見和尚本來師，如何得見？」師云：「年牙相似，即無阻矣。」僧擬進語，師云：「不躡前蹤，別請一問。」僧無對。（雲居代云：「恁麼則不見和尚本來師也。」後皎上座拈問長慶：「如何是年牙相似者？」長慶云：「古人恁麼道，皎闍黎又向這裏覓箇甚麼？」）

A monk asked, "Wishing to see the Upādhyāya's original teacher, how can he be seen?"
The Master said, "When years and teeth are alike, there will be no hindrance."
The monk intended to say more. The Master said, "Without treading in previous footsteps, please ask another question."
The monk had no reply. (Yunju spoke in his place, saying, "In that case, one does not see the Upādhyāya's original teacher." Later, Sthavira Jiao brought this up and asked Changqing, "What is it when years and teeth are alike?" Changqing said, "The ancient spoke thus; what are you seeking here, Ācārya Jiao?")
