智炬到參，問師云：「古人提持那邊人，學人如何體悉？」師曰：「退步就已，萬不失一，炬於言下，頓忘玄解。」

Zhiju came to study and asked the Master, "When the ancients brought up the person of that other side, how should a student comprehend it?" The Master said, "Take a step back and approach oneself; out of ten thousand, not one will be lost." At these words, Ju suddenly forgot his mysterious interpretations.
