上堂，云：「天得一以清，地得一以寧，君王得一，以治天下，衲僧得一，且作麼生？」良久云：「鉢盂口向天。」

Ascending the hall, he said: “Heaven attained the One and thereby became clear; Earth attained the One and thereby became tranquil; kings and lords attained the One and thereby governed all under heaven. What about patched-robed monks attaining the One?” After a long pause, he said: “The mouth of the alms bowl faces heaven.”
