上堂云。一亘清虛夜正央。桂宮老兔冷噴霜。混融明暗無分處。誰辨箇中偏正方。所以道。正位雖正却偏。偏位雖偏却圓。正恁麼時。作麼生辨。良久云。歷歷機前雙照眼。堂堂象外萬年身。

Ascending the hall, he said: "A stretch of pure emptiness, the night is right at its middle; in the cassia palace, the old rabbit coldly sprays frost. Blended together, light and dark have no place of division; who discerns the biased and upright orientations within this? Therefore it is said: 'Though the upright position is upright, it is biased; though the biased position is biased, it is complete.' Right at such a time, how do you discern it?" After a long pause, he said: "Distinctly before the mechanism, eyes of dual illumination; stately beyond forms, a body of ten thousand years."
