舉洞山供養雲巖真次。遂舉前邈真話。有僧問。雲巖道只這是意旨如何。山云。我當時洎錯會先師意。僧云未審。雲巖還知有也無。山云。若不知有。爭解恁麼道。若知有爭肯恁麼道。頌曰。

Dongshan was making offerings before the portrait of Yunyan, and recounted the previous dialogue about painting the portrait. A monk asked, "When Yunyan said, 'Just this is it,' what was his intention?" Shan said, "At that time I nearly misunderstood my late master's meaning." The monk said, "May I ask: did Yunyan know it exists or not?" Shan said, "If he did not know it exists, how could he understand how to speak like that? If he did know it exists, how would he be willing to speak like that?" The ode says:
