舉廓侍者問德山。從上諸聖。向什麼處去也。山云。作麼作麼。廓云。勅點飛龍馬。跛鼈出頭來。山便休去。來日山浴出。廓過茶與山。山撫廓背一下。廓云。這老漢方始瞥地。山又休去。頌曰。

Case: Attendant Guo asked Deshan, "Where have the holy ones of old gone?" Deshan said, "What? What?" Guo said, "The imperial order called for a flying dragon horse, but a lame turtle poked its head out." Deshan let it rest. The next day, when Deshan came out of the bath, Guo offered tea to Deshan. Deshan patted Guo's back once. Guo said, "This old fellow has only now caught a glimpse." Deshan again let it rest. The verse says:
