上堂影含宗鑑。心生則種種法生。步入道場。心滅則種種法滅。粲粲星羅霽夜。英英華吐春時。木人密運化機。絲毫不爽。石女全提空印。文彩未彰。所以道。不一不異。無去無來。諸禪德。作麼生行履。得恁麼相應去。六般神用空不空。一顆圓光色非色。

[Hongzhi] ascended the hall: "The reflection is held in the ancestral mirror: when mind arises, various dharmas arise. Stepping into the place of practice: when mind ceases, various dharmas cease. Resplendent, the stars are arrayed in the cleared night; luxuriant, the flowers blossom in springtime. The wooden figure secretly operates the transformative loom—not erring by the width of a hair; the stone maiden fully raises the seal of emptiness—its pattern not yet revealed. Therefore it is said: 'Neither one nor different, without going and without coming.' Worthies of Chan, how do you conduct yourselves so as to attain such correspondence? The six kinds of spiritual functions are empty and not empty; a single orb of round light is form and not form."
