望日。上堂。雲無心而出岫。四年前昨日是今日。水有時而迴淵。四年後今日是昨日。以拂子打圓相云。若向者裡薦得。年年是好年。日日是好日。且道。以何為驗。水雲相會笑呵呵。笑滿風光沒奈何。

Ascending the hall on the full moon day: "'Clouds heedlessly emerge from mountain peaks'—four years ago yesterday is today. 'Waters at times circle back into abysses'—four years hence today is yesterday." Striking a circle with his whisk, he said, "If you can recognize it right here: year after year is a good year; day after day is a good day. But tell me, what serves as proof? / Waters and clouds meet, laughing ha-ha; / Laughter fills the bright landscape—there is no help for it."
