In the third year of the Huangwu era of Wu (224 CE), together with his companion Zhu Luyan, he came to Wuchang, bringing an Indic manuscript of the *Tanbo jing*—*Tanbo* is the *Dharmapada-sūtra*. At that time, gentlemen of Wu jointly requested that the sūtra be translated. Since Vighna was not yet proficient in the national language, he and his companion Luyan translated it into Chinese text together. Luyan was also not yet proficient in the Chinese language, and there was much that was not fully expressed; their intent was to preserve the original meaning, so the diction was close to unadorned simplicity. Toward the end of the reign of Emperor Hui of the Jin, the śramaṇa Fali translated it anew into five fascicles. The śramaṇa Faju committed it to writing, and its diction was slightly more ornate. Fali also separately translated nearly one hundred short sūtras, but encountering the disturbances at the end of the Yongjia era, most no longer survive.
