Furthermore, because of anger and vexation, they harbor deviant perversity and do not believe in the correct path. Holding wrong views in their present life, they obstruct others from listening to the Dharma and reciting the sūtras, and do not accept it themselves. Upon death they will fall into the Hell of Deafness and Folly. For long kalpas they suffer various afflictions. When this suffering is ended, they fall among animals, where, hearing the sounds of the Triratna and the Four Noble Truths, they do not know them to be good, and hearing the sounds of slaughter and whipping, they do not know them to be evil. Within this they undergo immeasurable cycles of birth and death. By virtue of their fundamental causes and conditions, if they encounter slight goodness, they barely regain a human body, but are born among humans deaf and blind, unable to hear, no different from stone walls, completely unaware of beautiful words and fine sounds. One should know that obstructing the hearing of the Dharma always arises from wrong views.
