苜𰱵（上音目下音宿草名也本出罽賓國大宛馬嗜之漢書云張騫使西國迴持其種播植於此國以飤騾馬從草形聲字陸氏切韻等音莫六反今不取也）。

苜𰱵 (*mùxu*, clover / alfalfa; the upper character is pronounced *mù*; the lower character is pronounced *xu*. The name of a plant. Originally native to Jibin, the horses of Dayuan were fond of it. The *Hanshu* states: "When Zhang Qian returned from his mission to the Western Regions, he brought back its seeds and planted them in this land to feed mules and horses." It is composed of the grass radical and is a phono-semantic character. Master Lu's *Qieyun* and others give the pronunciation 莫六 [*mò* + *liù*], which is not adopted here).
