寙憜（上俞主反史記云寙亦嬾憜也尒雅勞也郭璞云勞苦者多憜寙也言嬾人不能自起如爪瓠繫在地不能起立故寙字從二瓜喻嬾人在室中不出故說文從宀會意字也宀音綿下徒臥反考聲云憜嬾也說文從心隋聲亦作惰）。

Indolent and lazy (寙憜: the upper [character has the fanqie] 俞主反. The Shiji says: '寙 also means lazy and indolent (嬾憜).' The Erya says: 'Toil (勞).' Guo Pu says: 'Those who toil much are often lazy and indolent (憜寙).' This means that a lazy person cannot rise by himself, just like a gourd clinging to the ground cannot stand upright; therefore the character 寙 is composed of two 瓜, comparing a lazy person being in a room and not coming out; hence the Shuowen classifies it under 宀; it is an associative compound. 宀 has the sound 綿. The lower [character has the fanqie] 徒臥反. The Kaosheng says: '憜 means lazy (嬾).' The Shuowen [says it is] composed of 心 with 隋 phonetic; it is also written as 惰).
