淑慝（上是六反毛詩傳云淑善也說文清湛也從水叔聲時用作[?*十]非也下他勒反孔注尚書云慝惡也毛詩傳湛邪也鄭注禮記匿穢也古今正字匿愧也從心匿聲）。

淑慝 (good and evil): The first character is the fanqie 是 (sh-) + 六 (liù) [shú]. The Mao Commentary on the Shijing says: "淑 means good." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Pure and clear. It takes 水 as semantic component and 叔 as phonetic component." The form [?*十] used at the time is incorrect. The second character is the fanqie 他 (t-) + 勒 (lè) [tè]. Kong's commentary on the Shangshu says: "慝 means evil." The Mao Commentary on the Shijing says: "Deceptive depravity." Zheng's commentary on the Liji says: "Concealed filth." The Gujin zhengzi says: "Ashamed." It takes 心 as semantic component and 匿 as phonetic component.
