鈎深（上苟侯反下審株反周易繫辭云鈎深致遠考聲云鈎求也取也引也字書云深𨗉也測也今集本作拘[栥-欠+ㄆ]於義乖舛恐傳寫訛謬也改從鈎深於義為得亦請詳焉）。

鈎深 [gōushēn, plumbing the depths] (The first character has the fanqie 苟侯 [gǒu + hóu]; the second has the fanqie 審株 [shěn + zhū]. The Xici of the Zhouyi says: 'Plumbing the depths and reaching the distant.' The Kaosheng says: 'Gōu means to seek, to take, to draw out.' The Zishu says: 'Shēn means deep, to fathom.' The current collected edition writes 拘[栥-欠+ㄆ], which contradicts the meaning; it is feared to be a scribal error. Changing it to follow 鈎深 captures the proper meaning, but please examine this carefully).
