The Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya's karman text: 'Let the venerable saṃgha listen. Monk so-and-so has met with impermanence, having entered parinirvāṇa. All his robes and pātra are what the saammukhībhūta-saṃgha ought to distribute. If the time has arrived for the saṃgha, let the saṃgha take these robes and pātra, as well as the remaining medicines he received, and give them to the nursing monk so-and-so. Such is the jñapti.' After the jñapti-karman up to: 'The saṃgha has already given the sick monk so-and-so's robes and pātra and the remaining medicines he received. The saṃgha consents because it remains silent. Thus is this matter maintained.' Karman text for the saammukhībhūta-saṃgha distributing the remaining light property: 'Let the venerable saṃgha listen. Monk so-and-so has met with impermanence, having entered nirvāṇa. All his robes, pātra, and remaining miscellaneous items are what the saammukhībhūta-saṃgha ought to distribute. If the time has arrived for the saṃgha, let the saṃgha now directly perform the karman to give them to monk so-and-so to receive. Such is the jñapti.' 'Let the venerable saṃgha listen. Monk so-and-so has received—such is the jñapti. Let the venerable saṃgha listen. Monk so-and-so has met with impermanence, having entered parinirvāṇa. All his robes, pātra, and remaining miscellaneous items are what the saammukhībhūta-saṃgha ought to distribute. The saṃgha now directly takes these robes, pātra, and remaining miscellaneous items and gives them to monk so-and-so to receive. Let the venerable ones consent to taking these robes, pātra, and remaining miscellaneous items and giving them to monk so-and-so to receive. Those who consent, let the saṃgha remain silent; if anyone does not consent, let him speak!' 'The saṃgha has consented to take these robes, pātra, and remaining miscellaneous items and give them to monk so-and-so to receive. The saṃgha consents because it remains silent. Thus is this matter maintained.' When three monks perform the procedure, they say: 'Venerable elders, so-and-so has met with impermanence, having entered parinirvāṇa. There are these robes, pātra, and remaining miscellaneous items, which the saammukhībhūta-saṃgha ought to distribute. There is no saṃgha in this place; we, as the saammukhībhūta-saṃgha, ought to distribute them.' (Spoken three times).
