「次復懺悔餓鬼道中長飢罪報，懺悔餓鬼有千萬歲劫不曾聞漿水之名罪報，懺悔餓鬼食噉膿血糞穢罪報，懺悔餓鬼動身之時一切支節火然罪報，懺悔餓鬼腹大咽小罪報。如是餓鬼道中無量苦報，今日稽顙皆悉懺悔。

"Next, we further repent the retribution of the karmic offenses of chronic starvation in the destiny of hungry ghosts; repent the retribution of the karmic offenses of hungry ghosts who for ten million years and kalpas have never even heard the word 'water' or 'broth'; repent the retribution of the karmic offenses of hungry ghosts feeding on pus, blood, feces, and filth; repent the retribution of the karmic offenses of hungry ghosts whose every limb and joint blazes with fire whenever they move their bodies; repent the retribution of the karmic offenses of hungry ghosts having bellies as vast [as mountains] and throats as tiny [as needles]. For the measureless painful retributions such as these in the realm of hungry ghosts, today bowing our heads we completely repent them all.
