"We, disciples, from immeasurable kalpas until now, have committed the five heinous sins; or broken the prohibitive precepts of the Buddhas of the past, future, and present; or engaged in the behavior of icchantikas; or uttered coarse words slandering the true Dharma, committing such heavy karma without ever reforming or repenting, devoid of shame in our minds. Or we committed offenses such as the ten evil deeds, knowing ourselves that we definitely committed such grave matters, yet from the beginning our minds were devoid of fear and shame; we silently accepted offerings and never disclosed [our faults]; regarding that true Dharma, we had no mind to protect, cherish, and establish it, but in the meantime disparaged and belittled it, speaking many transgressive evils. Or we claimed that there is no Buddha, Dharma, or Saṅgha; or did not believe that there are hells where retribution is undergone. Offenses such as these are immeasurable and boundless. Today, with immeasurable terror and immeasurable shame, we take refuge in the Triratna, the compassionate Buddhas, the Mahāyāna parents, and the bodhisattva spiritual associates; may you grant that we disclose and repent them!
