The Buddha said: "When people follow passion and desire in pursuit of fleeting fame, it is like burning incense: everyone smells its fragrance, but the burning incense consumes and burns itself. The foolish covet the reputation of worldly customs and do not preserve the truth of the Way; fleeting fame brings the calamity of endangering oneself, and its regret comes afterward."
