kativihe ṇaṃ bhaṃte! pariṇāme pannatte?
goyamā! duvihe pariṇāme pannatte, taṃ jahā–jīvapariṇāme ya, ajīvapariṇāme ya| evaṃ pariṇāmapayaṃ niravasesaṃ bhāṇiyavvaṃ|
sevaṃ bhaṃte! sevaṃ bhaṃte! tti jāva viharai|

"Venerable Sir, how many kinds of transformation are expounded?"
"Gautama, two kinds of transformation are expounded, namely: transformation of jīva and transformation of non-jīva. In this way, the entire 'Chapter on Transformation' should be recited without omission."
"Truly so, Venerable Sir! Truly so, Venerable Sir!" [Gautama said], and so on, and goes on living.
