"Venerable Sir! Among these souls who are partial binders and non-binders of knowledge-obscuring karma, which are fewer, greater, equal, or especially greater than which?"
"Gautama! The souls who are non-binders of knowledge-obscuring karma are the fewest; the partial binders are infinitely times more. In the same way, excluding life-karma, up to obstructive [karma]."
Question regarding life-karma:
"Gautama! The souls who are partial binders of life-karma are the fewest; the non-binders are countably times more."
"Venerable Sir! One who has total binding of the gross body, Venerable Sir, is he a binder or a non-binder of the transformational body?"
"Gautama! He is not a binder, [he is] a non-binder."
"Is he a binder or a non-binder of the translocation body?"
"Gautama! He is not a binder, [he is] a non-binder."
"Is he a binder or a non-binder of the fiery body?"
"Gautama! He is a binder, not a non-binder."
"If he is a binder, is he a partial binder or a total binder?"
"Gautama! He is a partial binder, not a total binder."
"Is he a binder or a non-binder of the karmic body?"
"Gautama! He is a binder, not a non-binder."
"If he is a binder, is he a partial binder or a total binder?"
"Gautama! He is a partial binder, not a total binder."
"Venerable Sir! One who has partial binding of the gross body, Venerable Sir, is he a binder or a non-binder of the transformational body?"
"Gautama! He is not a binder, [he is] a non-binder. In this way, just as was stated for total binding, so also it should be stated for partial binding, up to the karmic [body]."
"Venerable Sir! One who has total binding of the transformational body, Venerable Sir, is he a binder or a non-binder of the gross body?"
"Gautama! He is not a binder, [he is] a non-binder. For the translocation body it is just the same. For the fiery and karmic [bodies], just as was stated together with the gross [body], so it should be stated, up to: he is a partial binder, not a total binder."
"Venerable Sir! One who has partial binding of the transformational body, Venerable Sir, is he a binder or a non-binder of the gross body?"
"Gautama! He is not a binder, [he is] a non-binder. In this way, just as was stated for total binding, so also it should be stated for partial binding, up to the karmic [body]."
"Venerable Sir! One who has total binding of the translocation body, Venerable Sir, is he a binder or a non-binder of the gross body?"
"Gautama! He is not a binder, [he is] a non-binder. In this way also for the transformational [body]. For the fiery and karmic [bodies], just as was stated together with the gross [body], so it should be stated."

"Gautama! He is either a binder or a non-binder."
"If he is a binder, is he a partial binder or a total binder?"
"Gautama! He is either a partial binder or a total binder."
"Is he a binder or a non-binder of the transformational body?"

"Venerable Sir! One who has partial binding of the karmic body, Venerable Sir, is he a binder or a non-binder of the gross body?"
"Gautama! [He is] either a binder or a non-binder. Just as the exposition was stated for the fiery [body], so also it should be stated for the karmic [body], up to: is he a binder or a non-binder of the fiery body?"
