5.5

「佛者譬甘露，聽聞無厭足。
佛當有懈怠，無益於一切。
五道生死海，譬如墮污泥，
愛欲所纏故，無智為世迷。
前世行中正，加施而平等，
故使眉間相，所照無有限。
其眼如月初，徹覩十方國，
能令人心眼，見者大歡喜。」

"The Buddha is like amṛta;
One never tires of hearing him.
If the Buddha were to be indolent,
There would be no benefit to anyone.
The sea of birth and death in the five destinies
Is like falling into filthy mud;
Because one is entangled by craving and desire,
Being without wisdom, one is deluded by the world.
In past lives he practiced uprightness,
Giving with impartiality;
Therefore the mark between his eyebrows
Illuminates without limit.
His eyes are like the early moon,
Clearly seeing the lands of the ten directions,
Able to cause people's minds and eyes—
All who see him—to be filled with great joy."
