Question: How do we know that this sūtra fully teaches the three kinds of lack of intrinsic nature? Answer: As the Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra states: "Or as a sūtra says: 'All phenomena lack intrinsic nature, are unarisen and unceasing, fundamentally tranquil, and innately in nirvāṇa.' Relying on what implicit intent did the World-Honoured One himself say that all phenomena lack intrinsic nature? Fully relying on the implicit intent of the three kinds of lack of intrinsic nature, it is said that all phenomena lack intrinsic nature. As for 'unarisen and unceasing', and so forth, it is spoken solely relying on the lack of intrinsic nature of characteristics, or it may also be spoken relying on the lack of intrinsic nature of characteristics and of the ultimate."
