sūtra. The Shu jing comes from the Madhyama-āgama and is a different translation. The Shiyi xiang jing comes from the Ekottarika[-āgama] and is also a different translation. For the Shen guan jing, examination shows it is not in the text. The above eight sūtras have all been compiled into the catalogue of extant texts; therefore they are excluded here. The three sūtras from the Jie xiangying fa onward were compiled under sole translations in the Great Zhou Catalogue. Now, examination reveals they all come from the Saṃyuktāgama. The five sūtras from the Nianshao poluomen onward were compiled under lost texts in the Zhou Catalogue. Now having obtained their texts, collating them shows they are identical with the Saṃyuktāgama. Among them, the Dufu zhangzhe jing and Ban amoleguo jing were already recorded among the extracted texts in the Sui Zhongjing lu. Now they are accordingly compiled together here.)

Diyu zan jing, in one fascicle (at the end of the sūtra there is a hymn praising hell; collating the original from which this sūtra was extracted shows discrepancies, and the reason is not yet clear)
The three sūtras from the San fangbian [jing] onward all come from the Qichu sanguan jing.

Sahewang jing, in one fascicle (comes from fascicle 5; newly entered above)
Shouda jing, in one fascicle (also called Weixian shouda jing; comes from fascicle 5; newly entered above)
The fifty-four works in fifty-four fascicles from the Nalai jing onward all come from the Sheng jing.
(This Sheng jing has a total of fifty-five sūtras in its upper and lower [fascicles]. Its fifty-fifth is titled Piyu jing. From within it, the two sūtras Sahewang and Shouda were split off, making fifty-six. Among these fifty-six, excluding the Zongchi jing and the Gudu jing, outside these two sūtras there are fifty-four sūtras entered into the above catalogue of extracted texts. Furthermore, in the extracted texts of the Sui Zhongjing lu, there were four more sūtras, namely: Mingguo shen jing, Xiangwang jing, Zhigou jing, and Bayang shenzhou jing, all said to come from the Sheng jing. Now, examining the Sheng jing reveals none of these sūtras at all. Since collation shows they do not exist, they are removed and not entered above. Among these fifty-four sūtras are the Hu zhu biqiu zhou jing, Wuqu jing, Bie yu jing, Pusa ceng wei biewang jing, Huizi jing, Ma yu jing, Sahewang jing, and Shouda jing. The above eight sūtras are newly entered into this catalogue. Among them, for the five sūtras Wuqu, Bie yu, Huizi, Ma yu, and Shouda, the Zhongjing lu states they come from miscellaneous parables; for the two sūtras Hu zhu biqiu zhou and Sahewang, the Zhongjing lu states they are excerpts from the Mahāyāna or Hīnayāna, source unknown. Now, since their titles are completely identical with those in the Sheng jing, they are compiled here. As for the Pusa ceng wei biewang jing, [Seng]you's stating it to be an anonymous translation is an error. Since it is identical with this, it is compiled into this catalogue.)
Fanzhi guan wuchang de jietuo jing, in one fascicle (this and the Jie tan wang [jing] are originally one sūtra; divided into two based on the circumstances; comes from the upper fascicle)

Doule fanzhi jing, in one fascicle (comes from the lower fascicle)
Lianhuase biqiuni jing, in one fascicle ([Seng]you states it is an anonymous translation; comes from the lower fascicle; newly entered above)
The fourteen works in fourteen fascicles from the Jie tan wang jing onward all come from the Yizu jing.
(Regarding the Mojie fanzhi jing, Sengyou's catalogue states it comes from the Yizu jing. Regarding the Xutuoli jing, Lao shao ju si jing, Miledan jing, and Lianhuase biqiuni jing, for these four sūtras, [Seng]you states they are anonymous translations. For the Yinren yizhong xing jing, [Fei Chang]fang states it is an anonymous translation. Now, collation shows they are all identical with this [text], and so they are compiled into this catalogue. Examination of the upper and lower [fascicles] of the Yizu [jing] shows it has sixteen sūtras in total. Now, setting aside the Youduan wang jing, Yixue jiaofei jing, Fuzi gonghui jing, and Weiloule zhu shi jing, outside these four the remaining fourteen sūtras were separated into fourteen, and are fully recorded in this catalogue.)

Shouzhi wen fo shisi shi jing, in one fascicle (also called Shisi yi; also called Shisi zhang; two and a half sheets; newly entered above)
Shuxi shi, in one fascicle (You states Xinshuo shuxi shi; two sheets; newly entered above)
For the nine sūtras including the Asheshiwang [wen chenhen cong he sheng jing], You's catalogue states that they are excerpts without indicating where they come from. As for the three sūtras including the Ershiba tian [jing], examination of their texts reveals they are all excerpted sūtras, but it is not yet precisely known from which sūtra or vinaya they come. Furthermore, among the Hīnayāna extracted and excerpted texts in the Sui Renshou Zhongjing lu, there are a total of two hundred and thirteen works in two hundred and twenty-seven fascicles, which also do not indicate their provenance. Now, examination of the catalogues of various dynasties shows that most have already been recorded. For that catalogue to regard texts such as the Shou shishan jie jing and Jiading biqiu jing as extracted excerpts is unreasonable. Since there is no precise evidence and they can hardly be relied upon, they are briefly discussed as above, and the rest are deleted and not recorded.
