"Venerable Sir, is a single-leaved water lily root (sāluka) one jīva or many jīvas?"
"Gautama, it is one jīva. In this way, the entire exposition of the water lily (uppala) chapter should be spoken up to 'infinitely many times', with this difference: the body's spatial extension is at minimum an innumerable part of an aṅgula, at maximum a few dhanuṣas; the rest is just the same."
"That is so, Venerable Sir! That is so, Venerable Sir!"
