kuṃbhie ṇaṃ bhaṃte! egapattae kiṃ egajīve? anegajīve?
evaṃ jahā palāsuddesae tahā bhāṇiyavve, navaraṃ– ṭhitī jahanneṇaṃ aṃtomuhuttaṃ ukkoseṇaṃ vāsapuhattaṃ, sesaṃ taṃ ceva|
sevaṃ bhaṃte! sevaṃ bhaṃte! tti|

"Venerable Sir, is a single-leaved kumbhikā [plant] one jīva or many jīvas?"
In this way, as in the palāśa chapter, so it should be spoken, with this difference: the lifespan duration is at minimum an antarmuhūrta, at maximum a few years; the rest is just the same.
"That is so, Venerable Sir! That is so, Venerable Sir!"
