2.6.1
atha tām gantum aśaktām ciram anuraktām latā-gṛhe dṛṣṭvā /
tat-caritam govinde manasija-mande sakhī prāha //
Then, seeing her unable to go, long devoted [to him], staying in the bower of creepers, / the confidante reported her state to Govinda, who was sluggish with mind-born love:
2.6.2
paśyati diśi diśi rahasi bhavantam /
tat-adhara-madhura-madhūni pibantam //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
She looks in every direction for you in secret, / drinking the sweet nectar of your lips. / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.3
tvat-abhisaraṇa-rabhasena valantī /
patati padāni kiyanti calantī //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
Moving with impetuous eagerness for your rendezvous, / she walks a few steps and falls down. / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.4
vihita-viśada-bisa-kisalaya-valayā /
jīvati param iha tava rati-kalayā //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
Having fashioned bracelets of bright lotus-stalks and sprouts, / she survives here only by the art of your amorous pleasure. / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.5
muhuḥ avalokita-maṇḍana-līlā /
madhuripuḥ aham iti bhāvana-śīlā //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
Repeatedly gazing at her playful ornaments, / she imagines, 'I am the enemy of Madhu!' / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.6
tvaritam upaiti na katham abhisāram /
hariḥ iti vadati sakhīm anuvāram //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
'Why does Hari not come swiftly to the rendezvous?' / Thus she asks her confidante again and again. / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.7
śliṣyati cumbati jaladhara-kalpam /
hariḥ upagataḥ iti timiram analpam //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
Thinking, 'Hari has arrived!' / she embraces and kisses the thick darkness resembling a rain-cloud. / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.8
bhavati vilambini vigalita-lajjā /
vilapati roditi vāsaka-sajjā //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
When you delay, casting off shame, / the woman dressed for the tryst laments and weeps. / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.9
śrījayadeva-kaveḥ idam uditam /
rasika-janam tanutām atimuditam //
nātha hare sīdati rādhā vāsa-gṛhe //
May this utterance of the poet Śrī Jayadeva / make connoisseurs exceedingly joyful. / O Lord Hari! Rādhā languishes in her dwelling-bower.
2.6.10
vipula-pulaka-pāliḥ sphīta-sītkāram antar-
janita-jaḍima-kāku-vyākulam vyāharantī /
tava kitava vidhāya amanda-kandarpa-cintām
rasa-jaladhi-nimagnā dhyāna-lagnā mṛgākṣī //
Her bristling hair spreading wide, emitting a loud hiss of pain, / speaking incoherently with choked cries born of inner numbness, / fixing her deep thoughts on Kandarpa because of you, O deceiver, / the fawn-eyed one is plunged into an ocean of aesthetic flavor, absorbed in meditation.
2.6.11
aṅgeṣu ābharaṇam karoti bahuśaḥ patre api saṃcāriṇi
prāptam tvām pariśaṅkate vitanute śayyām ciram dhyāyati /
iti ākalpa-vikalpa-talpa-racanā-saṃkalpa-līlā-śata-
vyāsaktā api vinā tvayā vara-tanuḥ naiṣā niśām neṣyati //
She puts ornaments on her limbs again and again; even when a leaf stirs, / she suspects that you have arrived; she prepares the bed; she meditates for a long time. / Though thus absorbed in a hundred games of dressing, doubting, bed-making, and imagining, / without you this fair-limbed woman will not survive the night.
