Compiled in the gengwu year by the śramaṇa Zhisheng of the Western Chongfu Temple
17.2
Within the Classified Catalogue, Section 4: Catalogue of Excised Redundancies and Duplications (147 works, 408 fascicles)
17.3
As for the Catalogue of Excised Redundancies: this refers to [texts that are] the same text under different titles, or brief extracts taken from extensive works, which have been considered redundant and superfluous and are now entirely excised. Merely because years have passed and time has dragged on, errors have been mutually transmitted and propagated; they futilely fill fascicles and cases, costing fruitless labor. Now, having collated discrepancies and agreements in detail and distinguished the merits and demerits, they are fully arranged into items worthy of examination.
17.4
Newly collated and extracted sūtras:
17.5
67 works, 185 fascicles
17.6
Sūtra of the Questions of Ākāśagarbha, eight fascicles (also called Fangdeng wang xukongzang jing, or simply Xukongzang jing; also in five fascicles).
The one sūtra above is an extracted circulation of the Bodhisattva Ākāśagarbha Chapter from the Mahāsaṃnipāta-sūtra. The Great Zhou Catalogue states that it was translated by the śramaṇa Shengjian during the Qifu Qin, which is erroneous. That translation by Shengjian is a lost text.
Sūtra on Bodhisattva Ākāśagarbha Asking How Much Merit Is Gained by Upholding the Sūtra, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is also an extracted text from the Ākāśagarbha chapter of the Mahāsaṃnipāta. The various catalogues all state that it was translated by Tripiṭaka Master Kumārajīva of the Yao Qin, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on the Dānapāramitā Practiced by King Sarvadada, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above comes from the section on the Limitless Perfection of Giving in the Ṣaṭpāramitā-saṃgraha-sūtra. The various catalogues all state that it was translated by Tripiṭaka Master Kumārajīva of the Yao Qin, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on the Inscrutable Secret Treasury of the Tathāgata's Nature-Origination of the Great and Vast, two fascicles.
The one sūtra above is an extracted circulation of the Jewel King Tathāgata's Nature-Origination Chapter of the older Avataṃsaka-sūtra. At the beginning, a preface authenticating faith was added, and the initial nidāna of the second assembly was taken and placed at the head. Catalogues such as that of [Fei] Zhangfang all state that it was an anonymous translation of the Western Jin, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on Rebirth According to One's Vow, one fascicle (also titled Abhiṣeka Sūtra on Rebirth According to One's Vow in the Pure Lands of the Ten Directions; also called Puguang pusa jing).
The one sūtra above is the eleventh fascicle, the Samantaprabhā Chapter, of the Great Abhiṣeka Sūtra; in some editions it is in the twelfth fascicle. Catalogues such as that of Zhangfang all state that it was translated by the upāsaka Zhi Qian of the Wu dynasty, or that it was translated by Tripiṭaka Master Dharmarakṣa of the Western Jin; both are erroneous.
Bhaiṣajyaguru-vaiḍūryaprabhā Sūtra, one fascicle (also titled Abhiṣeka Sūtra on Eliminating Transgressions and Deliverance from Birth and Death).
The one sūtra above is the twelfth fascicle of the Great Abhiṣeka Sūtra; in some editions it is in the eleventh fascicle. Catalogues such as that of Zhangfang all state that it was translated by the śramaṇa Huijian of Luye Temple during the Song dynasty, which is erroneous.
Sūtra of the Second Assembly of the Mahāprajñāpāramitā, seventy-eight fascicles (popularly titled Newly Translated Larger Prajñā / Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā-sūtra).
Sūtra of the Fourth Assembly of the Mahāprajñāpāramitā, eighteen fascicles (popularly titled Newly Translated Aṣṭasāhasrikā / Smaller Prajñā).
The two sūtras above are popularly reported to have been translated by Tripiṭaka Master Yijing, who changed their titles separately to copy and circulate them. On consulting Yijing's scriptural catalogue, he never separately translated these sūtras, and upon collation the text is identical to the Mahāprajñāpāramitā. Fearing people might not know the details, this is stated here.
Suvikrāntavikrāmiparipṛcchā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, eight fascicles (also called Newly Translated Suvikrāntavikrāmiparipṛcchā Prajñā).
The one sūtra above is the sixth assembly of the Mahāprajñāpāramitā, being a different translation of the same text as the older Suvikrāntavikrāmiparipṛcchā Prajñā.
Mañjuśrī Prajñā Sūtra, two fascicles (also called Newly Translated Mañjuśrī Prajñā).
The one sūtra above is the Mañjuśrī Section, the seventh assembly of the Mahāprajñāpāramitā, being a different translation of the same text as the older Mañjuśrī Prajñā.
Adhyardhaśatikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is the Prajñā-naya Section, the tenth assembly of the Mahāprajñāpāramitā.
Guhyakādhipati-vajrapāṇi Sūtra, two fascicles.
The one sūtra above is claimed by the Neidian lu to be an anonymous translation, which is incorrect. Examining its original text now, it comes from the five-fascicle Guhyakādhipati Sūtra, beginning from the five-syllable verse on the fourth sheet at the beginning of the fourth fascicle, down after the fifth character of the fifth line, continuing to the end of the fifth fascicle, with completely identical phrasing.
Ekottarāgama Sūtra, one fascicle (three sheets).
The one sūtra above comes from the twenty-first fascicle of the Ekottarāgama. It extracts two discourses: first explaining the four brahma-merits, then explaining the four nutriments, and finally explaining the four pratisaṃvids. Zhangfang's catalogue states that it was translated by the śramaṇa Faju of the Western Jin, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on the Immediate Retribution of Practicing the Seven Deeds, one fascicle (one sheet).
The one sūtra above comes from the thirty-fourth fascicle of the Ekottarāgama.
Dvādaśāṅgapratītyasamutpāda Sūtra, one fascicle (three sheets).
The one sūtra above comes from the forty-sixth fascicle of the Ekottarāgama. The Zhou Catalogue catalogued it within the Mahāyāna canon and stated that it was a different translation of the same text as the Sūtra on Contemplating the Twelve Nidānas under the Patra Tree, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on Dharmas Associated with Śīla, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above comes from the thirtieth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama. Zhangfang's catalogue states that it was translated by the śramaṇa Zhu Tanwulan of the Western Regions during the Eastern Jin, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on the Bhikṣus Asking the Buddha About the Deaths of Many Upāsakas, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above also comes from the thirtieth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama. Zhangfang's catalogue states that it was translated by the śramaṇa Faju of the Western Jin, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on the Exclusively Wealthy Elder, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above comes from the forty-sixth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama. Zhangfang's catalogue states that it was translated by Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao of the Later Han, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on Sentient Beings Doing Evil in the Three Times, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above comes from the eighth fascicle of the Udānavarga. Zhangfang's catalogue states that it was translated by the śramaṇa Faju of the Western Jin, which is erroneous.
Sūtra on the Merit of Renouncing the Household Life, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above comes from the beginning of the Chapter on the Merit of Renouncing the Household Life in the Damamūka-nidāna-sūtra. Zhangfang's catalogue states that it was translated by the upāsaka Zhi Qian of the Wu dynasty, which is erroneous.
Sūtra of the Buddha Explaining Knowledge of Wholesome and Unwholesome to a Young Brahmin, one fascicle (comes from the fourth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama; Zhangfang's catalogue states it was translated by Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao of the Later Han, which is erroneous).
Sūtra of the Buddha Explaining the Maturation of Faculties to the Elder Nakulapitar, one fascicle (comes from the fifth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama; Zhangfang's catalogue states it was translated by Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao of the Later Han, which is erroneous).
Sūtra of the Buddha Explaining the Abandonment of Desire to the Non-Buddhist Suśīma, one fascicle (comes from the fourteenth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama; Zhangfang's catalogue states it was translated by the upāsaka Zhi Qian of the Wu dynasty, which is erroneous).
Sūtra on King Aśoka Offering Half an Āmalaka Fruit, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-fifth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama).
Sūtra on the Fulfilment of Dhyāna Contemplation, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-ninth fascicle of the Saṃyuktāgama; according to Zhangfang's catalogue, the two earlier and later translations are both erroneous).
The five sūtras above were catalogued in the Zhou Catalogue among the lost texts. Now having located their originals, they all come from within the Saṃyuktāgama. Since they are extracted texts, they have been removed and are not catalogued.
Sūtra on the Nidāna of the Makara Fish, one fascicle (comes from the ninth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Venerable Udāyin Leading People to Pay Homage to the Buddha and Saṅgha, one fascicle (comes from the eleventh fascicle).
Sūtra on Returning to One's Native Land to Deliver the Royal Father, one fascicle (comes from the end of the seventeenth fascicle and beginning of the eighteenth fascicle).
Sūtra on Crown Prince Jalavāhana, one fascicle (comes from the nineteenth fascicle).
Sūtra on Proper and Improper Ways of Giving Goods, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-fourth fascicle).
Sūtra of Admonition to Rāhula, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-fifth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Transmigration in the Five Destinies of Birth and Death, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-fourth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Nidāna of Svāgata Bhikṣu, one fascicle (comes from the forty-second fascicle).
Sūtra on the Seven Material and Immaterial Meritorious Actions, one fascicle (comes from the forty-sixth fascicle).
The nine sūtras from the Nidāna of the Makara Fish down all come from the Mūlasarvāstivāda-vinaya.
Sūtra on the Elder Hutāśa Receiving Karmic Retribution, one fascicle (comes from the second and third fascicles).
Sūtra on the Venerable Subhadra Having a Melodious Voice, one fascicle (comes from the fourth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Five Kinds of Water Strainers, one fascicle (comes from the fifth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Past Nidāna of Queen Śrīmālā, one fascicle (comes from the seventh fascicle).
Sūtra on King Prasenajit Believing in the Buddha, one fascicle (comes from the eighth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Karmic Retribution for the Slaughter of the Śākyas, two fascicles (comes from the eighth and ninth fascicles).
Sūtra on the Bhikṣuṇī Mahāprajāpatī Entering Nirvāṇa, one fascicle (comes from the tenth fascicle).
Sūtra of the Buddha Explaining Renunciation and Entry into the Womb to Nanda, two fascicles (catalogued into the fourteenth assembly of the Ratnakūṭa; comes from the eleventh and twelfth fascicles).
Sūtra on Renouncing One's Body Out of Reverence for the Dharma, one fascicle (comes from the beginning of the fourteenth fascicle).
Sūtra on Delivering Two Wrong-View Boys Who Attained the Fruit, one fascicle (comes from the fourteenth fascicle).
Sūtra on Pure Deportment, one fascicle (also called Sūtra on Washing and Cleansing Deportment; comes from the sixteenth fascicle).
Sūtra on Mahāmaudgalyāyana Receiving Karmic Retribution, one fascicle (comes from the eighteenth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Manifestation of Great Auspicious Omens at the First Nativity, one fascicle (comes from the twentieth fascicle).
Sūtra on Delivering Kātyāyana, one fascicle (comes from the twentieth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Karmic Retribution and Nidāna of the Nāga King Elāpattra, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-first fascicle).
(Regarding the differences between this Sūtra on the Nāga King Elāpattra and the Sūtra on Delivering Kātyāyana: the earlier text of the former sūtra merely contains over four extra sheets of introductory nidāna, while the subsequent text is completely identical without distinction; why multiply extracts unnecessarily and divide them into two sūtras?)
Sūtra on the Nidāna of Lady Kṣemā, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-first fascicle).
Sūtra on the Nidāna of Upagupta, three fascicles (comes from the twenty-second, twenty-third, and twenty-fourth fascicles).
Sūtra on the Nidāna of Supraphā, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-fifth fascicle).
Sūtra on Subduing Non-Buddhists and Manifesting Great Supernormal Powers, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-sixth fascicle).
Sūtra on Mahauṣadha's Skillful Means, two fascicles (comes from the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth fascicles).
Sūtra on the Buddha Descending from Heaven to Jambudvīpa, one fascicle (comes from the twenty-ninth fascicle).
Sūtra on Delivering Kṛśā Gautamī, one fascicle (comes from the thirtieth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Nidāna of Mother Hārītī, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-first fascicle).
Sūtra on the Nun Dharmadinnā Attaining the Fruit While at Home, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-second fascicle).
Sūtra on the Arrogance of the Brahmin Born from a Tree, one fascicle (comes from the end of the thirty-fourth fascicle and beginning of the thirty-fifth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Disciple Serving the Teacher, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-fifth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Seven Non-Retrogressions, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-fifth fascicle).
Sūtra of the Buddha Explaining Heedlessness to the Elder, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-sixth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Nidāna of the Earthquake, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-sixth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Four Kinds of Black and White Dharma Seals, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-seventh fascicle).
Sūtra on Delivering Subhadra When the Buddha Was About to Enter Nirvāṇa, two fascicles (comes from the latter half of the thirty-seventh fascicle and the first half of the thirty-eighth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Minister Varṣākāra Informing the King upon the Buddha's Parinirvāṇa, one fascicle (comes from the thirty-eighth fascicle).
Sūtra on the Eight Great Kings Dividing the Śarīra, one fascicle (comes from the end of the thirty-eighth fascicle and beginning of the thirty-ninth fascicle).
(The texts of the above two sūtras overlap: the Minister Informing the King Sūtra has over two extra sheets at the beginning compared to the latter sūtra, while the Sūtra on Dividing the Śarīra has about three extra sheets at the end compared to the former sūtra, but otherwise they do not differ; extracting them as two sūtras is redundant and inappropriate).
The thirty-three sūtras from the Elder Hutāśa down all come from the Mūlasarvāstivāda-vinaya-kṣudrakavastu. From the Makara Fish Nidāna Sūtra down, the forty-two sūtras in forty-nine fascicles are all nidānas from the Sarvāstivāda vinaya, extracted and circulated by Tripiṭaka Master Yijing. Since they belong to the category of extracted texts, they are all deleted. Among them, the Sūtra on Proper and Improper Ways of Giving Goods and the Sūtra on the Disciple Serving the Teacher show slight additions or omissions compared to the full text, but their meaning does not differ from the root; why redundantly make them separate works and fascicles? Categorized with the various extracted texts, they are also deleted.
17.7
Newly Identified Sūtras with Different Titles but Identical Texts
17.8
Twenty works, fifty-two fascicles
17.9
*Pusa jingjie fenxun famen jing*, ten fascicles; translated by Bodhiruci, Tripiṭaka master of the Northern Wei (attested in Baochang's catalogue).
The one sūtra above is another name for the *Sache niganzi jing*. The Zhou catalogue listed it separately and furthermore called it a lost text, which is an error.
*Xin daoxing jing*, seven fascicles (or ten fascicles); translated by Dharmarakṣa, Tripiṭaka master of the Western Jin (attested in Changfang's and other catalogues).
Regarding the one sūtra above, when examining the various canon copies, all were completely identical in text and phrasing with the *Xiaopin bore*, so that text is mistaken. There is currently no copy of the *Xin daoxing jing* translated by Dharmarakṣa (I have heard that there is a copy translated by Dharmarakṣa in the Eastern Capital, but upon searching for it I have not obtained it).
*Dafangdeng daji jing*, eight fascicles.
Regarding the one sūtra above, the Tang *Neidian lu* and the *Da Zhou lu* both list it. Now upon examining its text, it is none other than the sixth case of the combined *Mahāsaṃnipāta-sūtra*. The first two fascicles are called the "Chapter of the Bodhisattvas of the Ten Directions," which is the *Mingdu wushi jiaoji jing*. The subsequent six fascicles are the *Wujinyi jing*. For what reason the *Mingdu wushi jiaoji jing* was compiled into the *Mahāsaṃnipāta* is unknown; because it differs, it is now preserved as a separate work. Since this has been doubly listed, it is now deleted.
*Anouda longwang jing*, two fascicles.
The one sūtra above is completely identical in text and phrasing with the *Hongdao guangxian sanmei jing*, differing only in title. One text is now preserved.
*Hedao shenzu jing*, three fascicles.
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Dao shenzu wuji bianhua jing*.
*Aiqi jing*, three fascicles (or two fascicles, six chapters).
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Fangdeng banniehuan jing*. The first chapter of the *Fangdeng niehuan* is called "Lamentation" (Aiqi); this chapter title was thus taken as the title of the sūtra. Compared to the *Fangdeng niehuan*, it lacks the final three chapters, making the text incomplete.
*Baotian huiyin sanmei jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is completely identical in text and phrasing with the *Huiyin sanmei jing*, differing only in having an expanded or abridged title. Changfang's catalogue states: "The *Huiyin sanmei jing* is also titled *Baotian huiyin sanmei jing*." The Zhou canon-entry catalogue listed both texts, one under single translations and one under retranslations, which is a gross error.
*Luzi jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Lumu jing*. Based on its textual meaning, it should take its title from the mother. Changfang's catalogue states that the *Luzi jing* was translated by the upāsaka Zhi Qian of the Wu dynasty, which is mistaken.
*Xiao wuliangshou jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Amituo jing*. There is currently no copy of the *Xiao wuliangshou jing* translated by Guṇabhadra, Tripiṭaka master of the Song dynasty.
*Taizang jing*, one fascicle (attested in Changfang's catalogue).
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Wugou xianlü jing*.
*Wencheng shi'er yinyuan jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Beidoushu xia siwei shi'er yinyuan jing*. This *Wencheng jing* ought to have had a different translation, but upon searching for it I have not obtained it.
*Da anban jing*, one fascicle (or two fascicles; the *Neidian lu* says two fascicles, Changfang's catalogue says one fascicle).
The one sūtra above is completely identical in text and phrasing with the *Da anban shouyi jing*, differing only in having an expanded or abridged title. That the various catalogues preserve both texts is a gross error.
*Shenri jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Yueguang tongzi jing* in the Mahāyāna piṭaka. The father was named Shenri, and the son was called Yueguang; the titles of the sūtra were differentiated based on this distinction. Changfang's catalogue states that the *Shenri jing* was translated by the upāsaka Zhi Qian of the Wu dynasty, which is mistaken.
*Lunzhuang wudao zuifu baoying jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is completely identical in text and phrasing with the *Zuifu baoying jing*, differing only in having an expanded or abridged title.
*Zhanduoyue jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is completely identical in text and phrasing with the *Zhanduoyue guowang jing*, differing only in having an expanded or abridged title. In the Zhou canon catalogue, the *Zhanduoyue jing* was compiled under single translations, while the *Zhanduoyue guowang jing* was under retranslations; listing them in two places is a gross error.
*Zhenwei shamen jing*, one fascicle (Changfang's catalogue states: "also titled *Mohe biqiu jing*, and also titled *Jiaye jinjie jing*").
The one sūtra above is another name for the *Jiaye jinjie jing*, and is completely identical in text and phrasing. Some say it was translated by the śramaṇa Huijian of Luye Temple during the Song dynasty, which is mistaken.
*Zhuanfalun jing*, one fascicle.
Upon examining this one sūtra, there was no copy found. That the various sūtra collections all substituted the *Zhuanfalun lun* for it was an error (recently, a correct copy was found in the Eastern Capital and has already been incorporated into the canon).
*Bintoulu wei wang shuofa jing*, one fascicle.
The one sūtra above is completely identical in text and phrasing with the *Bintoulu tuluoshe wei youdayan wang shuofa jing*, differing only in having an expanded or abridged title.
*Alanruo xi chanfa jing*, two fascicles.
The one sūtra above is identical in text and different in title from the *Zuochan sanmei jing*.
*Chan miyao jing*, five fascicles.
Regarding the one sūtra above, it is said to have been translated by Dharmamitra, Tripiṭaka master of the Song dynasty, and is said to be a different translation of the same original as the *Chan miyao fa* translated by Kumārajīva, Tripiṭaka master of the Later Qin. Now upon examining the context, the text is exceedingly confused and is not the original sūtra. The first fascicle is text from the *Zhi chanbing miyao fa*, yet it is incomplete and breaks off halfway through. From the second fascicle onwards, it is the *Chan miyao fa* translated by Kumārajīva, beginning past the middle of the first fascicle and continuing to the end of the third fascicle; its text is also incomplete, lacking more than ten sheets. It was divided into four fascicles, making five together with the preceding. As for the translation by Dharmamitra, its text is currently lost.
17.10
Newly Extracted Sūtras Repeatedly Listed in Catalogues
17.11
Eight works, thirty fascicles
17.12
*Pusa dichi jing*, ten fascicles (or eight fascicles; also titled *Pusa jie jing*, and also titled *Pusa di jing*).
The one sūtra above is also titled *Pusa dichi lun*. In this catalogue it is now compiled as vinaya, preserving its sūtra title and deleting its entry under śāstras. The Zhou catalogue states that the *Pusa dichi jing* is a lost text, which is an error. Furthermore, because this single sūtra has many titles, the Zhou catalogue is contradictory from beginning to end, entering it repeatedly in six places altogether, which is a gross error (entered once among Mahāyāna sūtras, entered twice among Mahāyāna vinaya, entered once among Mahāyāna śāstras, and entered twice in the catalogue of lost texts).
Other sūtras that were repeatedly listed are more than one; fearing to waste paper and ink, I give only a brief account.
*Wuwei de nü jing*, one fascicle (now compiled into the *Ratnakūṭa*).
*Diyi yi fasheng jing*, one fascicle.
*Mile pusa suowen benyuan jing*, one fascicle.
Regarding the three sūtras above, that the *Da Zhou ruzang lu* listed them in both places—under single translations and under retranslations—was an error. I have now deleted them from the single translations and compiled them among the retranslations.
*Fa putixin jing*, two fascicles (also titled *Fa putixin lun*).
Regarding the one sūtra above, that the Zhou canon catalogue listed it in both places—among Mahāyāna sūtras and among Mahāyāna śāstras—was an error. Now, because it was composed by a bodhisattva, I have deleted its title as a sūtra and preserved it in the catalogue of śāstras.
*Jian wang jing*, one fascicle (also titled *Daxiao jian wang jing*).
Regarding the one sūtra above, that the Zhou canon catalogue and catalogue of lost texts both listed it was an error.
*Faju jing*, two fascicles (also called *Faju ji*).
Regarding the one sūtra above, that the Zhou canon catalogue listed it in two places—under Mahāyāna retranslations and within the compilations and biographies—was an error. Examining their texts, they are entirely identical and cannot be split into two. Although it was once retranslated, one translation is lost and missing. It is now deleted from the sūtras and compiled within the compilations.
*She dacheng shi lun*, twelve fascicles.
Regarding the one śāstra above, the catalogues of the Kaihuang and Renshou eras of the Sui, as well as the Tang *Neidian lu* and *Da Zhou lu*, all preserve two versions, stating that it is a different translation of the same original as the fifteen-fascicle *She lun*, and that both were translated by Paramārtha, Tripiṭaka master of the Chen dynasty, which is an error. Now collating the phrasing, beginning and end are completely identical. Although the fascicles differ in quantity, they cannot be split into two works. Only the fifteen-fascicle text is preserved, and the twelve-fascicle creation is deleted.
17.13
Newly Extracted Sūtras Incorporated into Major Collections
17.14
Fifty-two works, one hundred forty-one fascicles
17.15
Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra, 4 fascicles (18 chapters), translated by Tripiṭaka Master Dharmakṣema of the Northern Liang.
Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra, 7 fascicles (22 chapters, or in 6 fascicles), translated completely by Tripiṭaka Master Paramārtha of the Chen (four chapters combined to make seven fascicles).
Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra: Further Extension of Lifespan (the Great Eloquence Dhāraṇī Sūtra in 5 fascicles, continuing the 4-fascicle text), Northern Zhou of the Yuwen clan, Tripiṭaka Master Yaśogupta continued the two chapters on Lifespan and Great Eloquence.
The above: Śramaṇa Baogui of the Xingshan Temple during the Sui took the preceding three texts, along with the two chapters on "Silver Lord" and "Entrustment" translated by Jñānagupta, totaling twenty-four chapters combined into eight fascicles. The preceding three texts were all combined into it without addition or omission. The completed eight fascicles were retained and entered into the canon. As the three texts above were duplicated, they were omitted.
Guhyaka-vajradhara-sūtra, 7 fascicles, translated by Tripiṭaka Master Dharmarakṣa of the Western Jin, in the third assembly (or in 4, 5, or 8 fascicles).

Mahā-bodhisattvapiṭaka-sūtra, 20 fascicles, translated by Tripiṭaka Master Xuanzang of the Great Tang, in the twelfth assembly.
Sūtra on the Buddha Preaching to Nanda on Leaving the Household and Entering the Womb, 2 fascicles (extracted from the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya), translated by Tripiṭaka Master Yijing of the Great Tang, in the fourteenth assembly (renamed Entering the Womb-Piṭaka Assembly).

Bodhisattvapiṭaka-sūtra, 3 fascicles (also named Pūrṇa-paripṛcchā-sūtra), translated by Kumārajīva of the Yao Qin, in the seventeenth assembly (also named Mahākāruṇika-citta-sūtra, renamed the Pūrṇa Assembly; or in 2 fascicles).
Rāṣṭrapāla-bodhisattva-sūtra, 2 fascicles, translated by Tripiṭaka Master Jñānagupta of the Sui, in the eighteenth assembly.
Ugra-paripṛcchā-sūtra, 1 fascicle, translated by Tripiṭaka Master Saṅghavarman of the Cao Wei, in the nineteenth assembly (or in 2 fascicles).
Kāśyapa-sūtra, 2 fascicles, translated by the foreign prince Upasūnya of the Yuan Wei, in the twenty-third assembly.

Vimaladatta-bodhisattva-vibhāga-pratibhāna-sūtra, 1 fascicle, translated by the upasaka Nie Daozhen of the Western Jin, in the thirty-third assembly (or in 2 fascicles).
Mahāvaipulya-susthitamati-devaputra-paripṛcchā-sūtra, 4 fascicles, translated by Tripiṭaka Master Dharmagupta of the Sui, in the thirty-sixth assembly.

Section 5 of the Classified Catalogue: Record of Supplying Deficiencies and Gleaning Omissions (306 works, 1,111 fascicles).
17.17
The "Record of Supplying and Gleaning" refers to cases where old catalogues lacked the title or newly made translations had not yet been recorded. Now all are detailed comprehensively, in the hope that the wheel of the Dharma will remain flawless, the sun of wisdom will shine ever brighter, eternally illuminating the dark paths and continually imparting moistening nourishment.
