"Venerable Sir! In the thirty hundred thousand infernal abodes of this Ratnaprabhā earth, in each single infernal abode, are the inhabitants of hell abiding in the minimum lifespan duration plus one samaya engaged in anger? Engaged in pride? Engaged in deceit? Engaged in greed?"
"Gautama! One engaged in anger, and one engaged in pride, and one engaged in deceit, and one engaged in greed; [or] those engaged in anger, and those engaged in pride, and those engaged in deceit, and those engaged in greed; or one engaged in anger, and one engaged in pride; or one engaged in anger, and those engaged in pride—thus eighty permutations are to be known.
Thus up to the lifespan duration increased by a numerable [number of] samayas; for the lifespan duration increased by an innumerable [number of] samayas and the maximum lifespan duration suitable for them, twenty-seven permutations are to be stated.
"Venerable Sir! In the thirty hundred thousand infernal abodes of this Ratnaprabhā earth, in each single infernal abode, how many capacity-space states of the inhabitants of hell are declared?"
"Gautama! Innumerable capacity-space states are declared, that is to say: the minimum capacity-space, the minimum capacity-space increased by one pradeśa, the minimum capacity-space increased by two pradeśas, up to the minimum capacity-space increased by an innumerable [number of] pradeśas; [and] the maximum capacity-space suitable for them."
"Venerable Sir! In the thirty hundred thousand infernal abodes of this Ratnaprabhā earth, in each single infernal abode, are the inhabitants of hell abiding in the minimum capacity-space engaged in anger?"
"Eighty permutations are to be stated up to the minimum capacity-space increased by a numerable [number of] pradeśas.
For those abiding in the minimum capacity-space increased by an innumerable [number of] pradeśas, and for those abiding in the maximum capacity-space suitable for them, twenty-seven permutations [are to be stated]."
"Venerable Sir! In the thirty hundred thousand infernal abodes of this Ratnaprabhā earth, in each single infernal abode, how many bodies of the inhabitants of hell are declared?"
"Gautama! Three bodies are declared, that is to say: transformational, fiery, and karmic."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in a transformational body engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations. By this pattern, the three bodies are to be stated."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... of what bone-joint structure are the bodies of the inhabitants of hell declared to be?"
"Gautama! None of the six bone-joint structures; [they have] no bone-joint structure, nor bones, nor veins, nor sinews. Whichever pudgalas are undesirable, unpleasing, disagreeable, unpleasant, unappealing, and unacceptable, transform into the bodily conglomerate of these [hell-beings]."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in having no bone-joint structure among the six bone-joint structures engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... of what physical configuration are the bodies of the inhabitants of hell declared to be?"
"Gautama! They are declared to be of two kinds, that is to say: the life-sustaining, and the secondarily transformed. Among them, those that are life-sustaining are declared to have the huṇḍa configuration; among them, those that are secondarily transformed are also declared to have the huṇḍa configuration."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in the huṇḍa configuration engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... how many lesyās of the inhabitants of hell are declared?"
"Gautama! One grey lesyā is declared."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in the grey lesyā engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations."
